Traditional Values with a Modern Twist
A fourth generation greengrocery business originating in Richmond, London. Albert Fletcher would jump on his horse and cart and make his way to Covent Garden Market daily. He made the journey so often, he could have a nap on the way as the horse knew where he was going. The family moved to Wokingham in 1939 and set up a greengrocery shop in Peach Street. After Bert retired, sons Vic and Keith took over serving Wokingham town for an additional 48 years.
Vic then sold the shop and moved to Ashridge Manor Farm where he set up Ashridge Manor Garden Centre. His sons, Dean and Stuart, took over the greengrocery side, concentrating on the wholesale business. Following the success, the brothers, with the help of Stuart’s son, Kurt, decided to set up Fletchers Food Market at the garden centre, selling fresh fruit and vegetables and other tasty produce in February 2017.
